Defensive Patterned Positions

Defensive Patterned Positions.jpg

Stressful postural positions modify our phasic muscles to lengthen and weaken and our postural muscles to shorten and strengthen. This strength is a misnomer, as the strength should be throughout the whole range of the muscle movement and many instances it is only in the shortest position and will positive test for stretch weakness.

Clients often present in my clinic with shortening of postural muscles. These include:
• Hip and knee
• Cervical region
• Thorax and diaphragm
• Shoulder girdle and forearms
• As well as restrictions in the lumbar and sacral areas.

At Arrows, my goal is improve the structural function and tone of the muscles, relieve tension and restore relaxation to the body.
